The History Of The Uplift Foundation

Making a difference in the lives of childrenThe Uplift Foundation grew out of the efforts of a small group of men stationed at Fort Meade, MD to provide “aid to indigent families” in 2001. These men were members of the Lambda Gamma Gamma Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., an international fraternal organization dedicated to uplifting the community. The Foundation was incorporated in the state of Maryland in 2001 as “The LGG Uplift Foundation” and is currently composed of more than 150 volunteers who continue to provide programs of social, cultural, recreational and academic support to youth and families in the National Capital Region.

Diverse & Active

The broad range of programs and activities we offer has attracted youth from well beyond our initial target area. Our service “footprint” can be seen throughout the Baltimore – Washington Corridor and can extend as far south as Ft. Belvoir, VA and as far north as Anne Arundel- and Baltimore Counties! In addition, we have established partnerships with community based organizations and businesses in the Suitland Corridor of Prince Georges County.

Today, we proudly serve more than 400 youth each year through various projects such as: Charles Young Scholarship Program, Omega Academy, Project Manhood, Kids Day at Six Flags, Annual Talent Hunt, Annual Youth Leadership Conference, Assault on Illiteracy Program, and sponsoring youth team sports, clothing drives for the homeless, and holiday food for the elderly and poor.
